Mrs. J. A. Clark
Mrs. A. J. Clark, aged 82 years, died at the home of her grandchildren,
Mr. And Mrs. H. L. Sullivan, 306 South Seventh street, Friday afternoon at
1:15 o'clock, where she had made her home for the past five years, since the death
of her husband, the lat J. A. Clark.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. A. Bowley and Mrs. J. L. Turpin.
Eight grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren
also survive her.
Mrs. Clark was born in Arkansas Sept. 23, 1839. She was married to J. A. Clark,
Sept. 17, 1887. They came to Bell County 58 years ago and settled on the Clark home place
two and a half miles west of Temple, 56 years ago.
She was a devout member of the Methodist church from early childhood. She was loyal
to her church and friends, one of the best known and loved of the pioneers of this section
Funeral services will be held at the Seventh Street Methodist church this afternoon
at 3 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. E. Simpson.
Active, pallbearers will be:T. C. Quesenberry, M. Sullivan, J. S. Moore, Bert DeBord,
Enoch Barber, Him King. Honorary pallbearers will be: J. B. Powell, H. Alexander,
B. T. Stribling, Nat Johnson, Will King, and J. A. Hewett.
