Mildred Forbess Rodgers, 84
Mildred Forbess Rodgers, age 84, of Coleman, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004
at Abilene Regional Medical Center. Funeral service was 2:00 p. m. Saturday at
Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Coleman Cemetery under
the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Mildred Forbess on December 10, 1919 in Coleman County, Texas
to Ancil and Etta Barnett Forbess. She grew up in Brown County and attended school
at Brookesmith. In 1936 she married Elmer Rodgers in Coleman. She lived in Brownwood
for four years and Fort Worth for four years before moving back to Coleman. She was a
homemaker, a past member of the Garden Club, and a member of Elm Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Elmer Rodgers of Coleman; two daughters and one
son-in-law, Patsy Jackson of San Angelo and Sharon and Fred Goble of Mission Viejo,
California; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cheryl Rodgers of Grand Prairie,
Texas; four grandchildren: Tal and wife Deborah Jackson, Takoma Baldwin, Kristi and
husband Dexter Baber, Andy and wife Christina Hausenfluke; three great-grandchildren,
Sara Baldwin, Lindsey Baldwin and Chloe Jackson. She was preceded in death by two
brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Busby, Dennis Busby, Jerry Forbess, Bill Merryman,
Jerry Hubbard and Pete Floyd. Honorary pallbearers were the Elders of Elm Street
Church of Christ: Donald Williams, Bill Crow, Lyndon Key and Roy Buse.
