Mrs. Smith Rites Here Today;
Bural In Brown County
Funeral for Mrs. Telula T. Smith, 83, of 1209 Sucamore St., who died
Thursday morning in Cox Memorial Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday
in the 12th and Chestnut Sts. Church of Christ with R. L. Andrew, minister,
officiating. Assistaing will be Leroy Carver, minister of the 10th and Vine Sts.
Church of Christ.
Graveside rites and burial will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday in the Pleasant
Valley Cemetery near May in Brown County, with Kiker-Warren Funeral Home
in charge.
She was born July 24, 1873, in Hunt County and moved with her parents
to Brown County at an early age. She married Eugene S. Smith, a farmer in
Brown County, in 1890. He died in 1929.
Since the death of her husband, she had lived in Brownwood, Hamilin, and
Abilene. She had been at 1209 Syucamore St. since 1954.
A membeer of the 12th and Chestnut St. Church of Christ, she had been a
Church of Christ member for 60 years.
Survivors include four sons, J. J. of Brownfield, Doss and A. Coy of Abilene,
and Johnny W. of Fort Stanton, N.M.; two daughers, Mrs. Homer Wilkins
of Abilene and Mrs. Jean Trevino of Hobbs, N.M.; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Oren
of Littlefield, Mrs. Bama Farmer of Shamrock, Okla., and Mrs. Myrtle Murphy
of Lubbock; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and a number of cousins,
nieces and nephews in this area.
