Thomas Wristen, 79
Thomas Wristen, age 79, of Santa Anna, died Monday, January 13, 1997 at
4:40 p.m. at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Wednesday at Santa Anna Cemetery with Dr. Dick Wood
officiating, directed by Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
Thomas was born to the Thomas J. and Mamie Conners Wristen, Sr. in Leaday,
Coleman County, Texas on January 11, 1918. He graduated from Santa Anna High School
in 1938 and attended business school for two years. Thomas married Idella Barnett
in Ballinger on November 13, 1942 and they had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
He was a lifetime resident of Santa Anna and Mayor from 1969 until 1976.
Mr. Wristen was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 36th Division.
He was Coleman County Precinct 2 Commissioner from 1962 till 1967 and was manager
of Coleman County Telephone Cooperative from 1967 till retirement in 1983. He was
a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Idella Wristen of Santa Anna; two sons, Lin Wristen
of Early and Lee Wristen of Midland; a sister, Vivian Eubank of
Corpus Christi; a brother Charley Wristen of Abilene; and six grandchildren.
Honorary pallbears included Charles M. Eubank, Lane Guthrie, M. L. Guthrie III,
Ladd Vaughan, Lance Vaughan, Les Vaughan, Bill Wristen, Dink Wristen, and Russ Wristen.
