Deed Records Of Lincoln County, Missouri
This deed made and executed this the tenth day of November in the year of our Lord
Eighteen hundred and twenty-six in the Township of Bedford, County of Lincoln, and
State of Missouri by and between Winslow Turner and Betsy Turner his wife,
Stephen Cottle and Sally Cottle, his wife, Ahijah M. Highsmith and his wife
Deborah Highsmith, and Adam Turner, all Heirs of Winslow Turner, deceased,
of the first part, and David Bailey of the second part, all of the place aforesaid,
Wittnesseth that they of the first part the said Winslow and Betsy, Stephen and Sally,
Ahijah and Deborah, and Adam, Heirs of Winslow Turner, deceased
have this day at the place aforesaid for and in consideration of three hundred and
twenty dollars or Eighty dollars to each of them in hand paid by said David the
receipt whereof they hereby acknowledge have bargained, sold and conveyed
and do by this bargain sell and convey unto the said David his heirs and assigns all
of their right and title to a certain tract of land formerly granted by the government
as a settlement right to Winslow Turner, deceased, it being the land on which the
said Winslow Turner lived at the time of his demise and they the said
Winslow & Betsy, Stephen & Sally, Ahijah & Deborah, & Adam, his rightful,
lawful and legal heirs by birth and at law do sell and convey the same unto the said
David his heirs and assigns that is all their right title and claim unto the aforesaid tract of
land it being four/elevenths of the same or one/eleventh each of the aforesaid undivided
tract of land containing Six hundred and forty acres:
Being fifty-eight acres, Sixteen Rods and 4/11 elevenths to each share or two hundred
thirty-two acres & 65 rods 4/11 in all. To have and to hold the same unto the said
David together with all the privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to him
his heirs and assigns forever and they the said Winslow and Betsy, Stephen and Sally,
Ahijah and Deborah, and Adam for themselves do engage that they are the rightful
and lawful heirs of the aforesaid Winslow Turner in and to the tract of land and that
until the ensealing these presents they have not otherwise sold, conveyed nor obligated
their right and title to the said tract of land and they do by this Deed bind themselves,
their heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns to warrant and defend the same against
all claims of any person or persons or all claims at law whatsoever unto the said
David Bailey, his heirs and assigns to his and their own proper use behalf and same
forever in writing whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day
and year written above.

Let it be remembered that on this tenth day of November in the year of our
Lord eighteen hundred and twenty-six before me a Justice of the Peace within and
for the County aforesaid personally came Winslow Turner and Betsy Turner his wife,
Stephen Cottle and Sally Cottle his wife, Ahijah Highsmith and Deborah
Highsmith his wife, all personally known to me to be the persons whose names
are inscribed to the foregoing Instrument of writing as having executed the same
and severally acknowledged the same to be their free act and deed for the purposes
therein mentioned and they the said Betsy, Sally and Deborah being by me first
made acquainted with the contents thereof and examined separate and apart from
their husbands acknowledged that they and each of them severally singed the
foregoing instrument freely voluntarily and without compulsion or undue influence of
their husbands and further advised obliged that they do relinquish their dower to
the said land its tenements therein mentioned voluntarily freely and without
compulsion or undue influence of their husbands.

Let Be it remembered that on this Thirteenth day of November 1826 came personally
before me the undersigned Justice of the Peace the within named Adam Turner known to
me as the person who executed the same and as the person whose name is subscribed to
the foregoing instrument of writing and acknowledged that this same was his free act and
deed for the purposes therein mentioned.
Taken and certified the day and year above written at my office in the Township of
Bedford and County aforesaid Sealed this 13th day of November 1826. }}
